Relaxed Maternity Photo Session at Home

Here is one of my favorite maternity sessions from this year. The intimate maternity photos on the bench in the parents’ back yard perfectly captured this lovely couple.

I met this couple at the Cincinnati Moms Blog Bloom event earlier this year. They invited me into their home and back yard to capture some beautiful photos and memories of their first pregnancy. The back yard offered a picturesque backdrop for the photos. Stone steps, a cast iron bench, and mature trees were just the perfect scene for these intimate back yard maternity photos. My favorite photos were the ones capture on the stone steps and the cast iron bench. So unique, yet so personal to this couple.

It was a very hot day, so we agreed to take the photos closer to the Golden Hour to take advantage of the beautiful yellow cast over everything and to avoid the hottest part of the day. Outdoor photos during the Summer time can present many challenges, mainly the high temperatures. Therefore, it is best to take photos in the early morning or in the late evening. We even captured some photos of the sun going down in the back ground.

After some time photographing in their back yard, we went inside to capture some photos in their nursery. Happy Birthday To You! by Dr. Seuss was a special book for this husband and wife. We incorporated the book into a few photos in front of the crib.

These first-time parents-to-be were so sweet and showed so much love. They were excited to welcome their first time into the world. This was one of my favorite maternity sessions this year. Taking maternity photos in your home or in your back yard leaves you with beautiful and intimate maternity photos.
