Fall Senior Photos | cincinnati senior photographer
December 3, 2017
November was marked with a MILESTONE for me!
It was the first time I photographed a Senior portrait session. The Gill family was interested in capturing Senior portraits before sending their only son off to college for the first time. Such a bittersweet time!
Although my specialty is moms, babies, and families with young children, it was refreshing to step outside my comfort zone and try something new. Posing adults and older children without having to use my tricks for getting young children to smile was a good change of pace.
During the Design Consultation, we talked about their vision for the Senior portrait session. They mentioned that they really wanted to do the photographs at their home. Specifically, outside. Photographs that take place at a client’s home are always so special to me because they are intimate and sentimental. Their home is located on a beautiful piece of land with many unique features like a brick archway with an iron gate and a pond with a rustic fence around it.
We also discussed how they would like to display the senior and family portraits in their home. We identified a large wall sized canvas and an image memory box to store prints from their portrait session. These goals helped me to select the best poses and compositions for the products.
Senior portrait sessions are typically all focused on the Senior. I really love the classic posed family portrait, so we captured a few family photos and photos with each parent. The Gill family especially loved the candid photos of the dad and the son laughing. Pure emotion and the special bond between a father and his son is captured in those photographs!
This Fall Senior portrait session was a lot of fun! We laughed so much and I really got to know this super sweet family. It was the perfect portrait session because the family let me take control of posing them. Following my directions and trusting my expertise results in a low-stress portrait session!
I look toward adding Senior portrait sessions to my repertoire in 2018.
